Logmein No Longer Free

It has come to our attention that from 28 January 2014 Logmein will no longer be offering a free service. Logmein made this announcement towards the end of last week and have very kindly given a grace period of 7 days which begin the next time the account is logged in.

New LogMeIn accounts cost $99 a year, but if you have an existing account, you can sign up for premium for $49 for 2 computers.

Whilst Microsoft Remote Desktop has always been CMS Hospitality’s preferred method of remote connection, many of our customers have used LogMeIn (and in many cases the free version) so we encourage you to please check with your IT support provider if they are aware of this and if they have any alternative.

There are alternatives to paying for the premium subscription. TeamViewer, for example, is a great remote desktop and online collaboration tool that remains free for private users – though there are subscription fees for business users starting at $750 for 15 seats.

Other options include Microsoft Remote Desktop or 2X and there are also many Web based systems available. As an interim measure we have the facility of taking over any of your systems using our HelpDesk system which has a built in application to do so.
